Interior Design 2022

>Modern interior living room

Given how much more time we are now spending at home, sprucing up the interior design in your house can make you feel a whole lot better about being stuck indoors.

We’re keen to make sure that people get the most out of their homes, whether that is with the intention of selling it for more money, or whether that is just to get more enjoyment out of their home.

So if you’ve already started your home improvements, put down the paint brush and take a look at what we think are some of 2022 best interior design trends.

Comfort is key

People are choosing to spend more time at home now following the pandemic. So many homes are embracing a more comfortable and relaxed aesthetic recently, as opposed to the more formal ‘show home’ look.

So if you’re looking for a complete overhaul, ditch that uncomfortable statement chair. More recently we’ve see people who care far more about practicality than they do about having the right fung shui in your utility room.

A very quick and cheap way to make the rooms in your home more comfy are with salt lamps, candles or knitted blankets/cushions.

Working from home

Now that more of us than ever are working from home, it’s such a good idea to make sure you office space is a relaxing environment, and nothing is as relaxing as having a well furnished and decorated room.

It’s little things like having a comfortable chair, a good amount of light and a good spacious desk space that make all the difference.
Succulents are still on trend this year as they have been for the last few seasons, and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down. So the addition of a few succulents (cacti, jade plants, etc) can really improve your office space. Making it a more fun and inviting place to spend your days.

Rustic/Traditional aesthetics

We are seeing a traditional aesthetic appearing in more and more housing over the last 6 months and with good reason. This is a great choice if you live in a period property that can really house this style inherently. So if you have a home with an open fire place, exposed beams, original floorboards or even panelled walls, even if you don’t have these features, you can certainly do a lot to incorporate this style. Wood panelling, wooden carved chairs, tartan/check fabrics and floral Pondicherry fabrics and reclaimed wood are all great choices to get you started.

There are some great tutorials on YouTube that show you how to make some really fantastic pieces of furniture out of reclaimed wood or just by upcycling items you already have in the house.

This is a real crowd pleaser and is a great choice for somebody who loves their modern home comforts but wants to add some character to a room.

Earthy Shades

Earthy shades like warm greens, rusts, deeps red and slubby browns are very much on trend at the moment and tie in really well with what we’ve already spoken about earlier, comfort and rustic/traditional aesthetics.

But how do you implement these colours in a home? Well think greens, deep oranges and browns for you walls and natural materials and textures in shades of greens, greys and rusts works so well together.

Inside, Out

As we’ve already mentioned, succulents and just plants in general are very popular recently, and with green being such a popular colour you’d be hard pushed to find a better place for both of those than the garden. So why not bring the outside, inside?

Adding accents of the outside in a room can instantly change the whole rooms aesthetic and bring it to life. A small plant on a shelf can provide such a great contrast in the room. Watering them also gives you something else to do whilst stuck inside all day.

Plants also provide a great purpose in wellbeing, they provide cleanliness in rooms and having a couple of plants dotted around will honestly make you feel so much better about being in a room.
