Cradley Heath Area

As with many of the towns around this area of the Black Country, Cradley Heath is popular with families. There are several great primary schools to choose from in Cradley Heath and the local secondary school, Ormiston Forge Academy is easily accessible from anywhere in the town.

There are many benefits of living in Cradley Heath as many locals will attest to! The town is well-served by a thriving High Street, home to many local independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. A large Tesco Extra is also located directly on the High Street, meaning you can get everything you need often in a single trip.

There are many local attractions in the area especially if you enjoy getting some time outdoors. Saltwells Local Nature Reserve is one of our personal favourites in the area, referred to by many as a hidden gem. It is one of the UK’s largest urban nature reserves, covering a sizable 247 acres. Dating back to the 18th century, it was planted to cover the scars of coal mining in the area and has thrived since. The reserve is home to a huge variety of plants and animals and is a fantastic spot to get some time away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a spot of nature.

Another great place for some fresh air and even a spot of history is Haden Hill House Museum and Park, a Victorian residence furnished in the traditional period style, set within a historical Victorian landscape. The house is free to enter, and the park is a popular location for many local events and activities. The park is also home to children’s play areas, bowling greens, ornamental lakes and formal landscaped garden areas. In particular, we enjoy the fantastic views the park offers over the local area.

Of course, we can’t talk about enjoying the great outdoors in the areas in and around Halesowen without mentioning the Clent Hills. Just a short drive across to the other side of Halesowen, the hills offer a lovely walk with stunning views across a large chunk of the West Midlands, including Halesowen and Cradley Heath.
