Hagley is a historic village with a connection to Stourbridge dating back hundreds of years – some say as far as the bronze age. In modern times, Hagley is primarily a commuter village. Whilst there is little in the way of local employment opportunities, the unemployment rate in Hagley is low: only 2.6 per cent. Hagley functions as a dormitory village, with many residents taking advantage of the great connections via road and rail to commute to nearby Birmingham, Stourbridge, Worcester, and Kidderminster.

Hagley train station is also positioned not far from the high street. Hagley train station has regular trains into Birmingham Snow Hill northbound, and Worcester via Kidderminster southbound. This makes Hagley an excellent choice for anyone who regularly needs to travel or commute to Birmingham city centre, Kidderminster town centre, or Worcester city centre. Travel by road is just as easy, with easy access to the aforementioned destinations, in addition to Stourbridge, Bromsgrove, and Halesowen. The M5 is also easily accessible for travel further afield.
